Video is great isn’t it? You can show and tell your audience exactly what it is you want to share with them. Just whip you phone out, hit the record button, do your thing, slap it on the internet and you’re done. Right? Not really, not if you want show what you do in the best light. Your online presence is your storefront. Your media is how your present yourself to your customers. It’s often the first impression they will have of your business and they WILL make judgements about you based on it.
Access to video cameras is greater now than ever before, as are editing tools and platforms to share them with. Your phone or tablet can do things that used to cost tens of thousands (and still can, believe me!). Videos can go viral over-night; making and breaking businesses, brands and public figures. Most people can shoot a video on their device and upload it but are you getting the most out of the production tools in your pocket?
To make your media stand out in an ever more crowded market-place it needs to be clean, clear and easy to watch. The moving image has a language. Once you can speak it people are far more likely understand your message. This course will introduce you to some of the key skills in making the most of your smartphone’s video capabilities.
Who is this for?
People who want to, or think they should be, using video to market themselves, their products and their business. It could be a daily vlog, product videos, demonstrations, testimonials or the next ‘big thing’ that only you have thought of! It’s for businesses, start-ups and sole-traders working with small or non-existent budgets who can’t afford an external media producer. Perhaps you’re unsure if video will work for you or how you could use it and want to experiment? It is for people who want to do better quality daily videos for their social media channels.
What can I gain from it?
A grounding that elevates you from ‘home movie camera waver’ to ‘budding content creator’, giving you the confidence to plan, shoot and edit your own videos using only your mobile phone or iPad.
That sounds technical…
It won’t be. This course is aimed at the novice user and will contain as little jargon as possible. Its focus is on understanding how the media is assembled and structured for a certain outcome rather than technical skills and button pushing. There are two buttons on your camera we will be using and that’s it!
